To wrap up our CT Wedding Hair and Makeup Artist Introduction series, we take it behind the scenes. My name is Alyssa, and I am the person behind the computer at KiSSandMaKeUp!
I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2010 with a degree in Communication and an emphasis in Public Relations. Growing up I never really had a set career path in mind. By the time I got to college, I wanted to be a journalist and initially, that was my major. I took a lot of classes in journalism and eventually settled into my degree path of Communication. In my mind, a Communication major promised me the same opportunities, but also made me appealing to the business world.
After college, I tried a lot of things. I moved to Boston and was a waitress at Boston Beer Works. I worked as an assistant at the Board of Heath in Framingham, MA. I spent 5 years working in both Customer Service and Sales roles at a plastic manufacturing company. I spent over 10 years working (on and off) at a Greenhouse. And most currently I am working as an assistant in an interior design firm. I have worn many hats, but my favorite one allows me to write. Even better than that? Allowing me to write about beauty related topics!
I love anything and everything that falls into the beauty category. I am one of those people whose favorite place to be is in the salon chair while my hair artist works her magic creating my latest dreamed up hair color and cut. Hair and makeup! I love it all! I, unfortunately, was not blessed with any of the hands-on talents related to a career in the beauty industry, but love that I can still work in it. Let’s just say I have a strong appreciation for all artists.
I took a liking to the Connecticut bridal world when I became engaged last October and dove in head first. I made a few friends who work in the industry and the rest is history! I quickly realized that I could have the best of both worlds (beauty and writing) by nestling into a behind the scenes job in the bridal beauty industry. And here I am!
Lately, I have been very busy. Between working full time, writing blogs and planning a wedding I don’t have much free time! When I do come across a few minutes to spare, you can likely find me laying in my hammock (assuming I’m not getting my hair done). I also spend some time being the Bride Next Door with Lauren O Events, driving all over Connecticut in a Jeep Wrangler with my fiancé, listening to Jon Bellion and petting every animal within a ten-mile radius of where I am currently standing. I am also a firm believer in everything happening for a reason including you reading my words on this blog right now.
It has been my absolute pleasure, and I hope you continue reading!
